I like the 18-135 Canon - good lens, lighter then the 24-105.

Yes, I agree; you can't go wrong with a nifty fifty, when you need one.
I like a constant aperture lens. I switched from an 18-200 mm lens to a 17-50mm 2.8 lens and didn’t miss the extra length.
