Peak design slide strap crossbody. Most comfortable way I’ve found. Tried cotton carrier, it’s ok just can’t stand to look that geeky! I use the peak in the tripod lug and one of the strap mounts. I have the peak design clutch on the right side of camera that hook to the other strap mount and the other side of the camera strap mount so even if the tripod lug doesn’t hold (it’s never got even a little loose that’s just something people warn against even though the tripod lug is made to hold the camera) it connects to both sides of camera strap connectors. The way it tilts the camera it fits right at my hip and stays there for hiking and walking and the camera is ready to grab and take pictures very quickly. I also tried a black rapid style strap but it only connects to the tripod lug and the camera just flops around didn’t like it at all. Got my strap and clutch off eBay used.

I've been using a Peak design Slide for 2 years with my Nikon D500 w/Grip mounted to my Tamron 150-600mm G2. The absolute BEST solution I've found for my combination! I have a ARCA type plate with a slot attached to the built-in ARCA mount on the lens, and I attach one end of the strap to that slot, and the other end of the strap to The left-hand eyelet on the camera body. That ARCA plate I added is also fits on to an ARCA tripod mount in just seconds if I'm not shooting hand-held!! The strap , when I'm shooting w/o a tripod is worn cross-chest carry style, and the Camera and lens is moved quickly to my right side, or all the way to my back-side with NO Bouncing around whatsoever!!

You have lots of suggestions, but let me throw in my two bits. Op/Tect; I carry both a neck strap and a dual harness, with no intention of carrying two bodies. The harness places the one camera in front on the belly. I use whichever is appropriate depending on the weight of the body and the lens. The quick disconnect loops attach to either. Too, Op/Tect is US made, priced reasonably and the quality is superb.

I lovey cotton carrier vest for my Canon camera and
Tamron 150-600 lens. Makes all the difference. The bottom disc isn't that bad but I feel great walking around with it

I use a double Black Rapid strap that moves all the weight to shoulders. Remaining gear is in 2 pouches on a waist belt…gave up on the backpack as getting stuff out is easier and it doesn’t get as sweaty.

I switched to a wrist strap and never regretted it. I also like the security of having my camera "in hand" and easily accessible at all times.

Strap Choices are pretty personal and no one knows what feels comfortable for you ...but you. If you have access to a good store like B&H you can Try lots of them. The most comfortable neck/ shoulder strap I have personally used was an OpTech -because of the 2 stage stretchy neoprene - it was actually a Canon CPS gift about 10 years ago.
I currently have a Black rapid cross body strap with an Achratech quick release. With such a big lens would a monopod work for you??

I shoot daily with a Sigma 60-600 and Canon R 5. About 8 lbs. Use a Cotton Carrier, the best thing. I'm 81, No back problems, yet. Amazingly healthy! But I just purchased a doggy buggy for my gear and found that is wonderful, and even better than the Cotton Carrier, and may deliver me from future back problems.

A cross should strap is easier than a harness. I have both.

It is strongly recommended that any lens that has a collar i.e., 400mm and longer, that the strap/harness be connected to them and NOT the camera. That way the heavier lens is carrying the lighter camera. This helps to avoid bending or loosening the lens mount on the camera.

Where do you get that carry handle? I have had no luck or skill in finding one.

I've been using two different Op/Tech's for years. I have the neck strap worn over the shoulder that has a slide. I also use their wrist strap all of the time connected on the right side of my camera and I have a lug on the left to attach the neck/shoulder strap when I need it. And by the way, I've had back problems for years, one back surgery and 2 hip replacements so I feel you pain. I thank Op/Tech for helping me enjoy my passion! And their prices are the best!

I use the Op/Tech system for all my cameras, including some very formidable Bronica GS-1. Very comfortable and easy to configure for two camera carry, or single carry left, right, or center. I also use the Peak Design anchor links, which provide a fast, easy, and secure coupling between the harness and the camera.

I'll take a look at OP Tech.

I've pretty much decided against a vest at this point. Wouldn't work well over a coat in cold weather. Though of course one could own both a vest/harness and a strap. But a harness seems too bulky and a PITA to me.
