We got some well needed rain here in the Apache Junction area of the Valley of the Sun, and during one of those showers, I watched the forming of a giant rainbow. This whole thing was occurring at the same time as the sun was setting, so the colors were nice and warm and even Superstition Mountain was showing in the background.

For a while, I could see both ends forming, but the center wasn't there. Then, when it connected, and my lens was too long to capture the whole event, I went in and put on my 12mm, 2.0 Rokinon wide angle, but I was still missing the whole rainbow. It was lightly raining, so I didn't want to leave my carport and risk getting raindrops on my lens, so I took it in two shots and made a two-shot panorama out of it.

I've shot any number of rainbows in my lifetime, but this one is by far, the brightest, largest and most complete of them all, I especially love the upper-left portion where the rainbow passes behind some of the low hanging clouds.

It's lovely and a rarely seen image. I saw a whole rainbow only once in Nova Scotia but I didn't have a lens handy that could get it all in from where I was situated.
