Still working on the BIF. I sort of liked the snow caped mountains in the background.

I went to Monta Vista Colorado 3 times, so lots more crane photos!

These birds were all pretty far away. Heavy crop with a 600mm!

Open to thoughts and suggestions!

Nice series. These are great showing the environment & tell a little more than the can see every hair type of a photo. Try & get closer is the only thing you can do, if the distance is your concern. Camo, a Blind & maybe being in a spot before the sunrise might help

Beautiful! I love the photos with the mountains in the background! We went to the Crane Festival in Monte Vista one year. Bitterly cold, but tens of thousands of cranes - an awesome spectacle!

Outstanding BIFs! What are you still working on?

Getting the focus on the bird I want. Right now I’m just happy to get one in focus! Also, I struggle with exposure. I had to take quite a few to get a few that are right!

The getting closer for sure. In Montarosa Vista they have ropes and a barrier you are not supposed to cross to get closer. The ones on private property/ farmers field I suppose you could with permission… I know there are other places where you can get closer. I think a blind would help, but don’t have one yet!

I have watched videos on bird photography and I guess serious birders don’t want a blue sky let alone any sky or distractions in the background. But, I think the mountains add a sense of where they are! So I like it anyway!
