I made the mistake of moving from 10 to 11 and really wish I had not. My major problem is when looking for a photo I was able to glance at the folders, see an image in the group I needed, and open the folder. Now 11 does not support having an image in the group on the folder making it much harder to find an image. I had to go into each and modify the name of the file. Took a lot of time and still not finished. Not a happy camper.

I believe that feature is being added in a future update. It's in beta testing on the insider build channel.

You could migrate your files from your existing computer to your new one before it croaks -- a controlled process.

I have two Win 7 boxes remaining.
I'm totally dreading replacing them when they croak.
(and finding what software will no longer work.)

I liked XP also. It seemed very stable.

How do you like it? Pros? Cons?
The main difference for me is the the task bar, all the icons are congregated in the center. Still getting used to the Start menu not being on the left side.
However, the laptop is not my go-to computer so I don't do that much with it.

My understanding of Win 11 is that it requires a special hardware security
module built into the computer.

Yes and No -- It does require TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module) functionality. Most of the motherboards for the last 5 years have had this built into the BIOS and all that's required is to turn it on. Some motherboards that don't have it built in, have a header in which to plug a module. Modules can be purchased for around $20. It not built-in or having a header, I don't believe there is a way to add it.
