My First Polo Match

I was able to secure media credentials to shoot my polo match at the International Polo Club near Palm Beach, Florida. It was not only a tremendous learning experience but a lot of fun. I wanted to capture the beauty of these magnificent ponies as well as their competitiveness on the polo field. As I stood shooting from the sidelines, I was overwhelmed with their athleticism. Most of my shots were with the Nikon D500 and a 200-500mm lens. A couple with the D-850 w/70-200 2.8. Overall, for my first attempt, I was pleased with these and can't wait to go back and experiment with other settings. I have a Z7ii on order and can't wait to try mirrorless.

I love polo matches. The athleticism of the horses and riders is amazing. I especially like #8. A beautiful intimate study that many photographers overlook in favor of action.

Nicely done! Several shots confirm what Edison demonstrated after considerable effort -- that horses do indeed have all 4 hooves off the ground simultaneously when in full stride.

Outstanding!! You don't need no stinkin' mirrorless camera to improve on these!! Every one of them should be mounted on a wall!!!
