Ospreys in flight - Jordan dam, NC

There has been rain lately, causing the lake level to rise. The engineers let the water out at the dam and fishing in the turbulent waters must be good. Though,the osprey seem to be more interested in 'surveying' the fish than catching them

Nice shots! photographed an Osprey with a sword fish. He landed on a dead stump and beheaded the fish before could could swallow it head first. I used a Nikon D700 with Nikon 80-400mm lens.

It was a great opportunity - with the daytime moon relatively low in the horizon as the Osprey were flying around.
