Has anyone done a recent android Windows 11 update. Getting continually bugged by MS to do the update and am hesitant if it turns to be a a pain in the butt restoring stuff.
TIA

The last windows 11 update (just a week ago) killed my laptop. I had to go back to factory default install to revive it.
I'm now running it back on Windows 8 which is no longer supported so I'm stuck.
Last windows update sucks.
If it isn't broke don't fix it. I usually wait a year before changing to a new operating systems and when I do I buy a new computer.

I have two Win 7 boxes remaining.
I'm totally dreading replacing them when they croak.
(and finding what software will no longer work.)

I went to windows 11 when offered to me because my new laptop has it. Everything OK, a bit of a learning curve and things are different - some different for no reason than they could change things as far as I can tell.
Then this month after "update Tuesday" I am getting some strange things going on but overall things are still working. My wife's desktop is still windows 10 because of one feature that doesn't allow Windows 11. I am not changing it to install windows 11 for a while.
It appears that machines that are just barely Windows 11 ready are having problems the most. There problem is an old one with PCs, so many different components and so much software available that are all different and it is hard for Microsoft to tweak a new OS to work with all of them. It is a case of one of the PC's strengths - versatility to customize for different tasks also being one of its weaknesses under some circumstances - hard to write software etc. because of that great variety of configurations.
In that way those using Apple/Macs don't have the huge customization hardware and software options but they have much fewer problems with incompatible hardware and software.

I liked XP also. It seemed very stable.
(I only went to 7 because each of the computers giving up the ghost.)
Thanks everyone for your experiences and thoughts. Gonna ignore MS for a while longer and may never update to Windows 11 on my PC or laptops...happy where I am.
It depends. I upgraded without issues, but the more your version of 10 has changed, the potential for trouble there is.

Unfortunately, when it comes to the newest version of windows, they have taken automation and control of their softwares to a unnecessary levels. I had the update setting at "download only" but for some reason, it updated by itself. Then hang in the middle and cycled to an endless loop of "download-install-restart" for 2 straight days.
Good that i was able to save important files and documents but sadly, lost the softwares and games installed. I now need to re-install everything.
Went with the free Win11 on my slower but newer Dell with 8 megs of ram and it's okay but a learning curve. Keeping the Win 10 on my older faster Asua with 16 megs of ram as Win 11 says it can't load to it's system due to age and what ever else. ;-)

While my desktop remains with W10, I have updated my laptop with W11. It has received 2 updates since the original W11 load with no issues.
I made the mistake of moving from 10 to 11 and really wish I had not. My major problem is when looking for a photo I was able to glance at the folders, see an image in the group I needed, and open the folder. Now 11 does not support having an image in the group on the folder making it much harder to find an image. I had to go into each and modify the name of the file. Took a lot of time and still not finished. Not a happy camper.

I'm with you. My wife and I both are still using Win 7. I've played around with Win 10 a bit and am underwhelmed. Spends most of the time doing updates (it seems like...)

My Asus laptop has been running Windows 11 for quite some time. I have noticed fewer issues.
