I personally do not find the sky to be an overwhelming distraction, but I suggest you do a crop and compare to the uncropped version. I feel your crop would remove more of the vehicle on the right which might be more desirable than getting rid of the sky. One crop and you can accomplish both. If you are using LR this can be done non-destructively in only moments.

Thanks for your suggestions, Dave! I’ll give it a try.

The blue sky is fine Marg. If it were me I would get rid of the two barren twigs up in that corner.

Thanks, Ava’sPapa! I’ll do that! By the way - I just read your post about Brent Harder. So very sorry to hear that. What a wonderful photographer!

Leave the sky, Marg.

I think I will, Stan but will darken it just a tad.

I like the image as presented. If it bothers you crop the sky out and have two prints made. Keep the prints side-by-side for a few days and then deicide. I often do that to make my own decisions, but I can make the prints myself. Best of luck.

cjc2 - thanks for the suggestion. I did try that and I almost feel closed in without that big of sky! Great suggestion!

Since you brought it to my attention, it is now. Perhaps a clone job or more aggressive crop?

I hope that’s just the power of suggestion, Raymond. I’m trying it with darkening the sky a bit and it helps!

Lovely image and rich in color and textures. The bit of sky is important for it adds a sense of why lights and shadows are there. All in all, the image is very well taken and I would be one of the fellows standing in line to buy that classic jeep.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, Gary! Must be a guy thing - I didn’t realize it was a jeep! Lol

Thirty seconds with Irfanview - just to give you an idea how it would look without the sky. Before and After.

As I suspected.... very subtle, but much better. Your eyes and brain know the difference whether you realize it or not.

I did not notice the sky, but I found the receding line of the trim on the barn distracting. I would look at it with the image cropped lower and see what you think. Of course, you would need a custom mat, and bottom weight the map to fit a standard frame.

Thanks for the great suggestions, scallihan! But, ugh! So trying to avoid custom framing just for a show. $$

Thanks, Tim. I do think I’ll probably darken it just a bit.
