I enjoyed the "old car" topic so much that I felt compelled to share these photos of a 1947 Chevrolet police car on display and rotting in front of a police station in Savannah, Georgia. I hope you enjoy.

Love it. My dad was a police chief and I remember a car similar to that but his was a Ford.

That should be salvageable. Where did the criminals ride in a two door?

Just a small town so not many criminals. The criminals that they do have either ride in the front seat or drive themselves to jail. Just a small town

Unless someone added the Chrome T-Bar to the Grille because the liked it, that would be a 1948 because of that. To bad they’re letting it rot away.

Good catch! Too bad somebody couldn't restore it. Usually those old cop cars are black and white. This one's pretty stylish in cordovan brown. I think Mister H might be right on the year though.

I'm not sure Mr. H is correct. I searched on my computer and found that some of the 1947 Chevrolets had chrome t-bars on the grill. Check out the 1947 Chevrolet Fleetmaster Coup. So the year of the car remains in question.

The car is on display in front of a police precinct, and it is a shame no one cares about maintaining it. I suppose there are budgetary concerns.
