Hi E.L.
Any difference in lighting subjects with using computer images as opposed to regular backgrounds for still lifes?

You have to watch light reflecting off the monitor.
I've tried this a couple of times and didn't like the results. Had to use gaussian blur to rid the screen pixels.

I m not sure of what you mean by "Computer Images" Are the Computer generated images on your screen, photo-montage work done with computer-generated images, Green -Screen, from protection or real projections, etc.???

Whatever the case may be, you need to adjust the lights as to direction, colour, and quality (hard or soft) to match the shot in the background or it will not look natural or realistic.

The other element to consider is keeping the light off the background source so as not to dilute the saturation or cause unwanted reflections. You may need to employ gobos, barn doors, or grids to prevent stray light from striking the screen.

Another issue will be balancing the light, exposure-wise, with light being emitted by the screen. If you use flash, you can drag the shutter to properly record the screen image. If you use continuous light, you may need to shut down the lights and do a second exposure for the screen. You may want to "suggest"t the background and keep the scene image darker or place it out of focus.

Most newer monitors do not have "scan lines" that the old CRT models had but there can be what looks like moiré patterns on some screens weh shorter shutter speeds were used. In all cases, some testing and experimentation will be in order.
