A whole bunch. I've been an avid photographer since I was a teen, so 50 plus years. Don't ask me how many were keepers!

Interesting thought but the hits are more important than the at-bats.
The fewer at-bats the fewer hits. And the ERA is not trivial either.

For those who keep score......
So sorry, but the post I was replying to, disappeared...
Hmmm...... I wonder what matters most - quantity or quality?

'Tis different for different people.

When I first went digital, I probably shot around 500-1000 per year. A couple years after I got my first DSLR, I was shooting 20,000/year. In High School I bought film in 100 foot rolls (35mm). If I assume 10/foot that's 1000/roll. I'd guess I bought 10-15 rolls, so 15K. After HS, my shooting rate went down. Probably 200/year (a pure guess based on the number of boxes of prints and slides I have piled in the basement). After I retired, the DSLRs were producing maybe 3000/year. Occasional photographic experiments produce 5-10K a pop.
Total estimate, 150-200K.
Keeper rate is pretty low. ~10% now (excluding experiments), probably 10% in HS, probably 1% in between (based on an estimate of how many photos I have in my computer slide show).

I am not a professional, but avid prosumer. I estimate that I have taken 200,000 to 250,000 photos. Most of these are digital. With film I was much more judicious. In film days, a one week trip would produce 300 or so photos. With digital the same trip would produce 3,000 photos (with the vast majority being trashed). A pro friend estimates 1.5 million. How about you?
It is a fun question, but hard to answer. I have been taking pictures for sixty years or so.
Kinda like asking someone how many times… sex. Another good question.

I'm down to three times a day now.
Photos not sex. Get your mind's out of the gutter.

My mind is not in the gutter. For most, sex is fine, enjoyable, and a way to propagate the species. I wouldn’t have grandkids if I never had sex.

So you delete the other 95% only keep the 5% in lightroom?
I keep only the best, whatever that percentage might be. My LRCAT has more than just digital still camera images, but still the vast majority are the final culling and final edits of DSLR and MILC work.

I agree. Since photography produces such an endless supply of output I am in it as a home run derby. The goal and the keepers to me are the ones that are worthy of being wall hangers.
Most of them were just for fun!
