No, it's not a case of being blessed, at least not by the Nikon gods. I also own several Nikkor lenses, including the 200-500, and I've never had any need a repair. The good ones are well made and if handled properly, will last a very long time. I also own numerous Canon EF lenses and the two I've had in the repair shop are fairly old and probably the two Canon lenses I've used the most.

I will never understand why people having a common interest cannot share thoughts and opinions without insulting each other. More and more I go back to viewing the photos and skipping over the comments. This is the only social media site I ever go to and it often reinforces why I've never done any others.

I agree but when others start calling names and insults its tough to hold back. Same people all the time.
Why do the same people find it necessary to correct minor spelling errors? This isn't a college thesis, but an online blog. I don't proof read all the time and my autocorrect at times corrects to wrong word.
The poster on this thread that caused the last flame storm thought it was necessary to correct my spelling of lenses, EXCUSE me I forgot a *s". Is this really what the UHH all about?
Then the rascal calls me terrible names but using well know initials and says he just wrote random letters. Please go back to photography.

Will they give you a warranty as a result of the repair? If so; how long? If it is a renewed or "remanufactured" lens with a good warranty, it might be a good investment.

Yes but their old 5 year warranties no longer exist. Most all of their cameras and lenses come with a oneyear warranty. If you purchase with AMEX warrantee durations are frequently doubled.
