These are both lovely. I prefer the first but it's really a toss-up. Each has an appeal.

Took an evening field trip to Wilson Dam. The spillways were all open dumping 1 million gallons of water per second in order to prevent flooding. I had planned to try out my new (to me) 17-55 lens but left it sitting at home. These were taken with the 10-22 on canon 80D.

Thanks, Elliott! The distortion comment is way over my head! Please feel free to fix it and show me what you mean. I’m here to learn! ☺️

Marg, the coastline is sloped up to the left giving the impression that the water is flowing towards the dam. This is a result of perspective distortion caused by the 22mm focal length. It's similar distortion to what you see when pointing a camera up to capture a tall building.

I used the perspective tool in Affinity Photo (similar to that in Photoshop) to bring the coastline down and level. The right side is also a bit distorted but I didn't tinker with it as it isn't very noticeable.

Beautiful photo, Marg.
