Continuing with gymnastics and getting a better feel for the Z9 autofocus is a good thing. The bad thing is it is getting more and more difficult culling my images as more are coming out as I tried for. These images are from the last outing.

Shot with Nikon Z9, f2.8, 1/1250, ISO 4000. Using the 70-200 f2.8 Z lens.

Another solid outing by the team, but unfortunately one of the girls fell on the last landing of her floor routine. That proved to be the difference and they failed to pick up the win. After photographing several meets, I am beginning to understand their routines and look forward to those moments when they really seem to shine. This match, I changed location to capture the balance beam competition and it yielded some good opportunities.

Very nice shots. Makes me want to run out and go mirrorless.

Thank you. In all honesty, my D5 would deliver a lot of images like these, too. It is just auto focusing is significantly better with the Z9. I also like the increased image size and frame rate. I'm definitely not a pro, so I need all in my corner I can get!

Thanks, Tom. As I get more familiar with their routines, and try different locations, I am getting more comfortable.
