The world has mostly good kind people. They’re just the unsung heroes.

absolutely. All we hear is mostly the bad. It is gratifying to hear the good. It makes you feel good, it does me anyway.

Yeah, it's nice to know that there are still decent people around. Not out to take advantage of others, especially fellow hoggers. Nice story.

While I haven’t given a camera to a complete stranger I have generally handed my old cameras down. When I got the D7200 I gave the D40 to my brother. When I got the D500 I gave him the D7000. When I got the Z7 my nephew got the D7200. Of course when I decided to order the Z9 the D500 was too much to pass on, (and I needed to pay for the Z9), so I had to sell that one.

How heartwarming it is to know that kindness and generosity still exists in reality and not just words in a dictionary.

The 700 is a fabulous camera. It actually was my first venture into a semi pro/pro camera and it definitely helped me hone my skills. I did sell it a few years ago as I continued to upgrade to the 850. You will have a great time with this camera. It's still versatile and produces great images. If you can find a good used 24-120 or 24-70 as an everyday lens, you will be amazed at the performance and your images.

Good luck and enjoy every minute with it.

Thanks for sharing such a nice, upbeat story.

It's sad that there are not more people like that in this world. You and the giver both received a blessing.
Thank you for sharing this heartwarming story.

I recently posted my desire to move from a crop sensor and bridge camera to a reasonably priced FX model. My post asked for help from fellow UHH’s as to models that were decent and would stay within my modest budget.
I had four pages of responses. All helpful and many highly and strongly varied.

Then I received a response wherein the UHH asked me to PM him. And I did so. He replied that he would be sending me a Nikon D700 no longer needed as he had more advanced bodies as well as a mirrorless. All he asked for was my address.

I was blown away and gushed my thanks!

Many had suggested that I save up additional funds and bump up to a D610, D750, etc. so that was my plan. However this generous gentleman has now allowed me to learn with a still sound body at no expense. I will buy a used lens and begin honing my skills. If I decide to move on to a later model FX, I shall pay forward this D700 and my FZ1000 bridge camera.

It is highly refreshing and heart lifting (in this time of such great divisiveness) to be a part of such a helpful and generous group of folks.

I have kept this donor’s identity to myself as I am thinking that would be his desire.
Kudos to all of you!

Bravooo! to donor.
Congrat to receipient.
D700 has one great option:may mount and work with all Nikon lenses SLR lenses ever produced. preAi,Ai,Ais which is big pool of amazing lenses if owner willing to experiment with manual focus lenses.
Happy hooting!
