Interested in purchasing a Sony RX100 IV camera. Just wondering if this would a good choice for general photography and vacation photos. Will the 1 inch sensor be enough to make 8X10 prints?

think it would be a great travel camera and would easily do 8x10s

Wouldn't that depend on how many pixels the sensor has?,
not the fact that it's a 1" sensor?

20 Mp should accommodate 8x10s nicely.

The post says RX100 but the title says RX10. Both have the same or nearly the same "1 inch" sensor. At least in the RX10, it is capable of excellent 8x10 prints.

I think OP means RX10 since the IV is the current 10, the 100 is up to VII

To the OP - YES

My wife's RX10 and RX100 prints on a Canon Pro-100 13"x19" printer are very good. Don't get hung up on sensor size.

I have owned a Sony RX10 IV since 2017. It's a remarkable camera. I had a Canon 5D MIII, 22.3 megapixels and printed on canvas, 36 x 48 with no distortion. I'm sure your RX10 IV will print fine images.

I print out 9X13 all the time. Hard pressed to see the difference with my FF, (there is, but you have to pixel peep to see it)

I have use the RX10 IV several times including Safaris to Africa.

I tried one of these to be with me always as opposed to my heavier Nikons and lens options, saving those for specific trips. I found the quality to be excellent however I was so used to Nikon’s menus that learning Sony’s proved to be a learning curve I was not willing to undertake…..basically wasn’t sure I would live long enough to master it. If you are not a Sony user you might want to rent one first just to try it, but again I was really happy with the picture quality for the size of the camera……then again I don’t have the patience of Job, lol.

I too have the Rx10IV and love it. It's my go to camera. Not many if any downsides to it. Knowing it's limitations is important.

I have had an RX10 IV for almost 3 years and use it exclusively, having abandoned my APS-C Canon. Yes, the Sony menu system is intimidating, but the Fn key on the back takes me to everything I need to change quickly. Once the primary system is set up, there isn’t as much need for the full menu system. I’ve printed up to 16” x 20” successfully.

The RX10-4 will do very well for you, BUT ... if you don't need all of its features you can save money with the RX10-3
