Yes, such an adapter does exist. I don't have one, but it does exist. See: https://techartpro.com

They start with an adapter that will work with a camera type. Let's suppose you have a Sony mirrorless. On the other side of the adapter it has a Leica M mount. But they sell adapters to adapt some other mount to this Leica M. For example, you might pick Minolta MD mount to auto focus with those beautiful old Minolta Rokkor lenses. Or perhaps you choose a M42 mount adapter to open up AF possibilities with all those M42 lenses that are out there.

One side note on this. The adapter only has a small focus adjustment range. It is not possible to focus on something up close and to then focus on something far away. It requires you to manually focus on something close to where you want to focus and to then let it do the fine adjust.

Looks interesting, but I am not planning to buy one.

I was thinking the LA-EA5 might work the similar way as the Techart Pro. That was why I was asking questions. Techart Pro aims to turn old manual lens with different mounts to auto focus on some Sony models.

Just try to be sure for myself: your Minolta lenses are auto focus, not the old manual ones. In either case, the LA-EA4 is good for your Sony. I think the LA-EA4 is simply an adapter, no auto focus. Am I correctÉ

No, the LA-EA4 is an autofocus adapter for A mount to E and FE mount cameras. But again, the lens has to have autofocus.

Can you please provide the link for the support lens list? I a unable to locate it.

Start with:

https://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/www/cscs/accessories/?area=us&lang=en&mdl=LA-EA5&loc=en_US&loc=en_US

You first select a camera body, and after that, you select the lenses. Provided Sony hasn't changed anything from the last time I checked it, there are only two bodies that support the LA-EA5 : The A6600 and the A7Riv

As for lenses, as near as I can tell, all Sony and all Minolta AF lenses in A-Mount are included except for the Minolta xi power zoom series.

And I have found that my Sigma, Tamon and Tokina in A-Mount all work fine too.

I think perhaps you answered your own question. It's already selling.
Honestly, I think they just chose their most advanced FF and ASPC camera at the time.
Perhaps they will expand the firmware update to other bodies because that's all it takes.

What is frustrating is that we are not told if they intend to do more FW updates on other bodies, or even if the other bodies are capable of supporting it.

And even if I were to find out that not everything was supported such as eye tracking on other bodies, I would still want it with the limitations.

I believe at some point they will.
I'd assume they will watch the sales numbers, and when the upgrade market has saturated or another A&R series and A6xxx comes out...they will not leave everyone else behind any further.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work with the A7ii.

I just ordered the adapter as if I remember correctly the Sony website states not all features will work. I assumed that meant that it would not be capable of exceeding the camera specs duh....but not that all it will do is physically connect them.

Totally depends upon what lenses you using. I using A-Mount, screw drive focus, the A7iii won't auto focus. If the lens has internal motors, then yes it will auto focus.
