Yes, Jimpson Weed. The entire plant stinks, bloom, leaf, sap, everything. Commonly found in barn lots because nothing will touch it. For a while stupid kids would eat the seeds to get high. Since fertilizing my garden with barn lot scrapings, I’ve pulled a ton of it. Makes your hands stink!

This is some sort of seed pod I found yesterday while walking my dog. The first two are close-ups front and back, and the next two are 1X macros front and back.

Thanks bikinkawboy. This is weird, I was raised on a Kansas farm and lived my entire life in the Midwest but never remember seeing this plant. Perhaps I did and mistook it for something else?

Looks a lot like Jimson Weed. One popped up under our bird feeder last summer. NOTHING would eat it, not even the deer, which around here eat anything and everything. The birds would not land on it for any reason, and it was right under the feeder.

Supposedly it's an invasive species weed not to be tolerated. I have a whole jar of the seeds I collected last year. Not sure why.
Had to wear thick leather gloves to touch the seed pods, which are sharp and tough.

The deer and rabbits where I have lived have always waited for me to plant expensive plants before they came into my yard to eat. Apparently, the more expensive, the tastier...

It’s a Jimson Weed, for sure. Anyone who has ever had to pick those things out of a plugged-up combine knows. You get raw fingers even wearing leather gloves.

Really nice photos of the nasty thing, by the way.

Did you happen to see the craft that dropped it off?
