I just received a New to me (refurbished) Nikon Z7. ALL of my lenses, all seven of them, register the message " Cannot shoot, an unsupported lens is attached" Anyone have any clue what's going on and how to correct it?

Are you using Nikon Z lenses, or are they F-Mount? If F-Mount, I believe you need the adapter in order for them to work. I forget what the adapter is called, but essentially, because the Z7 is mirrorless, the adapter mimics the focal length from the F-Mount lens to the Z7's sensor. It also allows for autofocus, aperture control, etc.

The lenses are all F-mount, but with the FTZ II adapter.

Our friend Ken Rockwell gives this guidence:

The adapter only works properly (autofocuses) with Nikon's newest lenses, which are those with built-in AF motors (AF-I, AF-S and AF-P). With all other lenses autofocus does not work. AF and AF‑D lenses become manual focus only.

Manual-focus F, AI converted, AI and AI‑s lenses on the FTZ or FTZ II have:

1.) no automatic diaphragm control so you have to open and close the diaphragm manually for each shot for precise focus
2.) absolutely no communication between camera and lens so the camera, meter and EXIF data have no idea what aperture you're using
3.) the camera has no ability to set the taking aperture so there is no Program or Shutter-priority modes with these lenses.

So, we need to ask the specific brand and full technical designation of one (or all) your lenses giving problems.

The Nikon lenses, all AF-S, and three Zeiss lenses. The camera says " Cannot shoot because an unsupported lens is attached" when only the FTZ II adapter is attached. So my thinking is its not the lenses, its the adapter that is causing the problem, or the camera body itself.

Nikon has phone support, and they'll be pretty eager to assure their FTZ II adapter is working. You might first check the firmware and download any current updates. If still not resolved, try (800) 645-6687 . The current firmware is listed as v3.0, available from the Nikon website.

Guess a call is the next step. Good luck.

I stand corrected, v3.12 is what I have, but I need to update to 3.4, per Nikon . Thanks again for their number.

Don't you realize that he wouldn't have been able to even attach F lenses to the camera without FTZ?

Great news, if you can confirm success. In the call, did you mention their website says "get v3.0, download here ..."? I didn't follow the link to find the actual file and the point-update numbering.

I have the same camera. There is a also a firmware update for the original FTZ. Check to see if one is needed for the FTZII.

How can you have a firmware update for a tube? There is nothing to adjust?

Pretty sure the update is on the camera and how it receives data from the contacts in the “tube.” If you owned one you would see.
