I bought an OM5 Riii micro 4/3 camera a few months ago. It needs a firmware update. I use an iMac (not with the new chip), but can’t figure you how to do it. I keep hitting a brick wall when trying to download the Olympus Workspace. Does anyone have a workaround? Help would be greatly appreciated.
Would a call to Olympus help?
Did you check in System Preferences>Security & Privacy to see if you can download apps from "app store and identified developers?"

If I recall when I first downloaded it you needed a cd that came with the camera and your serial number. They have a download section on their website. You may only need your serial number. Olympus workspace is the photo processing software, to load a firmware update there is a section for downloads where you need to download a program called digital camera updater then you can update firmware on cameras and lenses if needed. Hope that helps.

I don't believe you need workspace do to this. Go to the website and search for downloads. You should find the link there.
A friend of mine updated to the latest Apple OS and was told he had to wait until OM Systems updates the Workspace to work with it. Luckily he had not updates I’ll his macs and an older version still worked.
Yes, indeed you need Workspace for the firmware upgrade. Borrow a a PC to do this. This is one of the many reasons I don't have a MAC. BTW your camera likely does not "need" a firmware upgrade.

try this:
getolympus.com>cameras>software and apps>firmware updates
Then scroll down to find your camera. Follow the steps to download.
I have Workspace and it is a processor program. Where firmware is mentioned it is a link to the above.
I checked your link. Nothing is new. You still need workspace to install the firmware.
I am wondering about that. It has the original firmware and there have been numerous upgrades.
There’s a lot of info online about the challenges of using the updating software. Google is your friend here. When I ran into this problem myself, I turned to the mu43 and DPR m43 forums for answers and found what I needed to know, but the answer differs depending on your machine, your OS, your camera, and the iteration of the Olympus updater software. I remember that I had to tinker in an area of the permissions that I had never had to tinker in before. But eventually got it installed and it worked. I never use the Oly software for anything but updating and tethered shooting so I’m not adept at all with it. And I don’t apply every firmware update, only those offering something I really want or need. I have read that it’s possible and easier to update firmware via the phone interface but I have not tried it.
Borrowing a PC is a great idea. I shouldn't have to do that, but such is life. THANK YOU!!
