Julian,

There is a free trial. Maybe you can try it and post the results here.

From what I read, Gigapixel is a little slow but does a little better job than tools like Resize in Photoshop.

ON1 and Photoshop try to do everything. Gigapixel does only one thing and does it well.

Gigapixel works amazingly well. I compared the output to Photoshop's Super Resolution and found it better. Photoshop however generated much smaller file sizes, was quicker and also did a nice job.

Thanks everybody for the feedback. I have downloaded the free trial version for Mac and I am beginning to work with it; so far, it seems slower than On1 but the results are quite comparable. More scrutiny will be required in order to give an in depth report. More to come.

A comparison is more scientific than applying "Opine"... to Opine is to express an opinion, often as reliable as predicting the weather with a wet finger in the air. I suggest visiting this site showing Gigapixel being the winner:

I have tried Gigapixel AI in the past(twice!), and was not completely satisfied with the resuts I had..More recently I've been using the "free" APP from Adobe photoshop Cc called "ENHANCE", and it does a creditable job of doubleing the size of a photo (or cropped photo) in RAW, .tif or .jpg without any artifacts! IE, if you have a sharp photo to begin with, you can enlarge a 12.5"x18.5" image to become a fine one at 25"x37" at 300 DPI!! This app also works quite well on smartphone images as well. It bears repeating that you do need a very good imafge to begin with wheter it's from a camera or a cellphone.. Depending on th photo, I may also apply a light bathing in Topaz Denoise AI once finished!!

There is also a software originally by EyeCandy called BlowUp. It is a Photoshop plugin. It is worth a try as well. They offer a free trial to compare.

I purchased the latest copy of the three pact and I see no difference between them and Lr/Ps. Just wanted to check them out for a while, but at this time I will not be upgrading. Best of luck.

I have it and am not impressed. I have not seen it bring back a picture from the dead. The shot has to be good to begin with.

My experience with Gigapixel AI is that it is valuable when you crop aggressively AFTER you complete all post-processing of a pic as recommended by Topaz.
Also, do yourself a favor and view the very brief tutorials explaining the different applications of the program.
I recommend starting with the "Settings" set to "Auto". I also prefer the 4-Panel "Comparison View" just to see if the "AI" is making the same decision that I would prefer. This saves me from second-guessing the "AI" and having to run the program four times and guessing which setting would produce the best result.
You may also PP a batch of pics at one time which is very handy.

To give Gigapixel AI the best chance to succeed also:
Be sure to go to "File" (top left) select "Preferences/Application" disable "Auto-Update Preview", and under the "Performance/AI Processor" select the fastest of your "Auto, CPU or Graphics Card" choices. Then set the "Allowed Memory Consumption" to "High". For details of each setting, there is a "Circled ?". Place your cursor over this "Circled ?" and an explanation bubble will appear with recommendations.

Finally: I know that you have your preferred workflow. However, if you run Gigapixel AI before you have a viable (DeNoised, and Sharpened) candidate you will just magnify all of the pics' faults! So start with a well-focused, and sharp pic, and Gigapixel AI will yield a pic that will stand up to pixel peeking.

While I Love Topaz Gigapixel AI, I have no experience with any other similar "Resizer" except PhotoScapeX Pro which is great at downsizing but only "OK" for "Upsizing".
I hope that this helps, please let us know what your experience is using this product.
Smile,

I've used Gigapixel on some digital copies of old slides (40 to 45 years old). After some cleanup of flaws in Photoshop then resizing 4 x in Gigapixel the results were very good. Gigapixel seemed to help hide the flaws in the files when using the very compressed setting.
