Hopefully no one thinks this topic too repetitious, so here goes.

Friday morning, we had an infrequent (for South Texas at least) overnight freeze. Mid-afternoon the Brown Pelicans went on a feeding frenzy and provided me some great shot opportunities.

Here is a takeoff sequence wherein this male bird seemed very happy following a successful dive/catch. His open bill position mid-launch was quite comical. Enjoy.

Bubba- you nailed theses- they are not repetitive but engaging and well done!

Thank you so much, suntouched. I appreciate your kind comments.

My comment regarding repetition was because I had posted a similar pelican takeoff sequence a week or so prior. However, every sequence like this I have imaged has yielded some similarities but also some significant variance.

Wow. I've never seen a Pelican that looked like that one. I really like your sequence shooting theory. It makes the photos tell a story. Nicely done.

Thank so much Appy. Story telling was my intent and I am glad you enjoyed these. When one observes a pelican launch from a distance, all you generally witness is a lengthy splash of water. Only by "freeze framing" can we witness the details of what is happening. Of course, slow motion video would accomplish the same thing, but I am not into video.
