Probably more than a few.
I have read that if they are purple instead of white, they don't attract insects and thus also not birds. Guess that would be a hard sell though.

I can't help but wonder why folks who truly believe that wive's tale don't drive to the nearest wind farm, get as close as possible and snap a few pictures of the pile of dead birds at the tower's base.

Have educated myself both via published, unbiased information and in person observation gained by driving thru the middle of an expansive wind farm in north central Illinois daily for several years. Quite a few tower bases can be easily observed due to their proximity to public roads (maintenence considerations). My comment stands.

The slow speed of the current generation of windmills helps to preclude injuries to birds.
