Life is too short!!! This became a glaring, in my face reality when I lost my husband to cancer. I decided then that if there was something I wanted and purchasing it wasn't going to put me in the poor house, I would buy it. I wanted a new pick up...I bought it. I wanted a sport bike...I bought it. I wanted a new Goldwing...I bought it. When I decided to get new cameras/lenses I bought them. I may have had to save up for them but I bought them. When the time comes for me to leave this earth I can look back at the happy memories that these items brought me. No regrets on not getting the things I want.
My mother save her money; never went any where or did anything. When she was near the end she said she wished she had done the things she often thought about. Most of her money went to nursing home.
If you want a new Leica, won't go broke buying it and it will make you happy.....buy it.

I bought a used M7 and two lenses years ago. To this day every time I pick it up I appreciate its beautiful handmade quality. There is something about making art with a piece of art. The same thing goes for the handmade view camera or anything not mass produced come to think of it.

It's your money, buy whatever makes you happy. But I don't think the images you get with it are going to be any better than what you get with the two cameras you already have.
I think you just want the prestige of owning a Leica camera.
will
Totally.
It is the snob attitude.
If you want it fine.
On the rare occasions that I see one actually being used I chuckle.
Your current cameras are superior except for size. Go with the little Sonys if you want a small camera and use the superior lenses that you already have.
I've always wanted a Leica m series film camera but never could afford one. Now in digital the Fuji XE series camera looks and handles like the Leica m series. I picked up a used XE 1 with an 18-55, and a 35 f1.4 about 5 yrs ago and am very happy with it. For wildlife though it doesn't compare to my Nikon DSLRs.
Only you know what you can afford, and you have reached the point in your life where I believe you should treat yourself to an indulgence, to scratch an itch you may have been feeling for a long time. I would only advise that you avoid a camera that has no option for eye-level viewing. The CL has both a viewfinder and a rear screen, whereas the TL2 only has the rear screen, (doesn't count to do the "mickey-mouse" routine of buying and accessory viewfinder which is extra expense and bother!). "Shotkit" does an excellent review of the CL, that would even convince me to go that route, if I was interested in having a Leica.
that is the way of an economical consumer system.
Consumers are "conditioned" to buy, buy, buy
It is not necessary

This is something I suspect that many of you deal with… First: I have 2 very good cameras a Nikon D850 and a Sony a7 II… Along with a modest selection of lenses. I do not need another (or even a replacement) camera since I no longer earning a living with a camera.
I dream of getting a Leica!
I am not willing to spend $10,000 or more for a high-end Leica with a lens or two, but I am open to spending $3,000 which puts me at the lower end of the Leica line, and since B&H has a TL2 with an 18 – 56 mm lens for $2,500 I am very tempted. Even though it has an APSC sensor and comes without a viewfinder.
There is no good reason to get a lower end Leica, it is unlikely that the quality of the photos would be better than either my Sony or my Nikon. However, I have heard about the “Leica Look” and the detail I see in reference photos is very good.
I know that I am just trying to convince myself that a Leica will give me something worth the expenditure.
The real reason I want a Leica is ego!
My Uncle had an old 35mm Leica Rangefinder which I admired from a distance (he would never let me touch it) and I dreamed that someday I would get myself a camera like that.
Running around with a Leica, would make me feel “unique” even though few would notice the camera make.
When it comes down to facts, taking better pictures with the TL2 Leica Camera, is probably minimal.
So, I get back to “there is no good reason to get another camera”.
But I want a Leica…
Then I go back to the beginning… Just like a loop in a computer program.
Am I the only one doing this sort of thing? Or do many of you keep looking at a new camera or lens telling yourself that it would make you stand out in the crowd? The selling point to yourself is that with this new toy you would be able to take better photos.
This is something I suspect that many of you deal ... (

I believe everyone has a right to be happy. Don't you?
Why do we drive Ferraris, write with Montblanc pens, wear Rollex watches and shoot pictures with Leica cameras? Because we simply can! Can’t find another reasonable answer…
I agree with Dodie 100%. You only go around once ! Get it !!! You've lusted for it ever since you saw your uncle's. It's not like you can't sell it if it doesn't meet your expectations. What do you care what others here think of YOUR decision ! It was after I found out that I had stage III kidney cancer that I bought a 900cc motorcycle, a Miata, and I have Nikon, Sony, Canon and now Fuji systems. I'm now an 11 year survivor and I have no regrets. I kept the motorcycle and the Miata for a couple of years each and then I sold them. Get it !!!

Good morning Bill,
I know many individuals (myself very much included!) who, at times, actually resent individuals like your self with your ridiculously correct advice. I want it, I want it, I want it - so don't tell me I don't need it. Then, when we same individuals allow our tantrum and complete loss of common sense to pass we realize - "Thank God I took that fellas' advice". Clear thinking and a return to common sense usually follow shortly thereafter. We desperately need gentlemen such as you (our a loving and concerned spouse) in our lives. GAS syndrome appears in all areas of everyone's lives (yeah, me too) and at all income levels and has resulted in significant financial woes or complete financial failure.
All it takes is a gentle (or as hard as required) whack to the back of the potential perpetrators head and will usually result in the saving of thousands of dollars (or much more in some instances) which would have otherwise been absolutely squandered and simply wasted.
Very wise advice!
All the very best to you and yours,
Terry
Buy used You will be able to get more camera
I’m in the CL camp too. Love the camera and am waiting for the CL2. I’m also waiting for a longer telephoto that’s designed for aps-c meaning smaller lighter. What’s available now are full frame designs and are too heavy for my old body to carry
