I think the biggest new feature of the Z9 is not to have the shutter. As many said the sensor used in the Z9 isn't much faster than the one in the A1 but Nikon dared to have no shutter. If the rolling shutter problem doesn't surface I am sure both Sony and Canon will have to follow which makes it Nikon first.

Kind of like what Canon already did?
Wow, how innovative.

The sensor cover in the Z9 is only the sensor cover and not the shutter like in the Canon.

Serves the EXACT same purpose.

His video covering polarizing filters and ND filters inspired me to think ill of him. I've never had any problem attaching a filter to any lens I own. He makes it look like mission impossible. That was posted back in 2015 if I'm not mistaken.

There's no way to imitate the effect of polarizing or ND filters. Close, maybe, but no cigar.

I agree. That was pretty bad.

I didn't say it would take more than 4 years to know a camera but to call someone a long time Nikon shooter it's more like 40 years. I think the entire time Tony involvement with photography isn't enough to be a long time shooter.

lol...okay head on a pin guy.

Who cares if I shot Nikon 30 years ago (I did)...it does not affect a conversation about Nikon today...at all.
Just a made up dis/qualifier which has no bearing at all.

Many others have criticized Nikon's last 5 years...and Nikon deserved it.

I have had various Nikons and currently have a D750. I am 72 and like to hike so recently bought a Sony a6600 for weight reduction. As time and functionality is ticking, I think I’m going to splurge. Even though the 10 stated reasons the Nikon is better than the Sony a1 have validity, the Sony is lighter and the auto focus on people, pets and birds I suspect is better than Nikon’s (Sony has been developing that technology longer than Nikon) so I’m leaning toward Sony. I’m not a professional so on one hand me getting this level of camera is ridiculous but I just want to experience that resolution and focus technology.

They all make a great camera body...but Sony and Canon edge out the Nikon.

It's all a matter of degrees ...at least between the top two...Canon and Sony.

The real difference that will show up all day long... the glass.
Sony has the very best glass lineup in the world...and the deepest selection bar none.

Bodies are great...they all are...but the glass...Sony is the king.

Tony Northrup has a new video in which he lists the 10 reasons the Nikon Z9 is better than the Sony A1:

2. Tilting screen (both ways)

4. 120 fps
5. ISO 64
6. Built-in GPS
7. Time auto set
8. Big LCD screen
9. Illuminated buttons
10. Price

I can't provide a link without the thread being moved to Links and Resources, but the YouTube video can be found by googling "The Nikon Z9 is better than the Sony a1 in these ways".

While some may disagree he does raise some valid points.

You can also view the video at NikonRumors dot com and look for the headline:

"Oh no… Hell has frozen over: Tony Northrup is giving us 10 reasons why the Nikon Z9 is better than the Sony a1"

He got one right. I have not/never will forgive Sony for removing the GPS function from A cameras. I still use them - I just hate the lack. And don't tell me about the smart phone GPS connectivity. I don't even like dumb phones, and carry one only so people can TALK to me.
