Eagles have come to Dallas

Just after we sold our old house in Dallas, a pair of nesting eagles have built a nest in a cottonwood tree within half a mile from the old house. They've also been photographed taking fish from the lake (White Rock Lake) that is nearby. So, if you're ever in Dallas, check them out. They can be seen near Buckner Blvd. and Lake Highlands Dr. Best viewing is from across the street. Just look for the cottonwoods near a wide open area often used for rugby.

My son has had eagles swoop low over his boat on Lake Fork, near Dallas.

Some gun toting idiot will probably shoot them. I have seen it before.

If some idiot does shoot one, that idiot just committed a Federal crime; even owning a feather, unless you're an American Indian, is also a Federal crime.

I took this on near Sunset Bay in December. I know one has a stripe behind the eyes to tell the Male from the Female, but I don't remember which indicates which.

How great to see them at White Rock!! Thanks for sharing the great photo. For those unfamiliar with Sunset Bay, it's an area on the lake near where the eagles are nested.

I visited an Indian store in Oklahoma and they were inspected often to make sure they had no eagle feathers. They were very careful no to have any because the penalty was severe.
