This is the smallest and lightest real carabiner made. It is high quality and won't break. You might find it at outlets like REI, or here, from the source...

Silly me! As you say, I can now see plenty of pouches available that look like they would be very secure by searching for pouches instead of carabiners! Search engines are great when you search for the proper term.

I'm glad. Now the fun starts; which one?

I have a few of these. They are not for climbing, but they are very versatile. Might be worth a look.
here is their web site

I'd like recommendations for a reliable light-weight spring loaded 2" carabiner-type belt loop clip for small camera accessories. American-made preferred. Many I've seen on Amazon have too many poor recommendations because the spring mechanisms break easily.

Check out a good old hardware store.

I use a number of various sized Hero Clips. Interesting back story you can read. It has a rotating hook on the clip. Very solid. My oldest is a couple of years old. Have not had one fail or wear out. Only for gear not climbing. Hero Clip Website: https://myheroclip.com/ they are also available on Amazon.
