I'd like recommendations for a reliable light-weight spring loaded 2" carabiner-type belt loop clip for small camera accessories. American-made preferred. Many I've seen on Amazon have too many poor recommendations because the spring mechanisms break easily.
go to REI or any outdoor outfitter....I have a few that climbers use..

Look at Black Diamond, Petzl, Edelrid -
Tip - country of origin is not a hallmark of quality. Black Diamond, the climber's choice in most cases, is made in Taiwan. Petzl is made in France, and Edelrid is made in Germany. But the go to mfgr for quality and safety - remember climbers rely on these things to keep from free falling off a rock face, remains Black Diamond. Though, as far as build quality, finish and sturdiness you can't go wrong with any of these. If you are lucky to find some new in box, unused Chouinard carabiners - those would work as well.
Black Diamond and Petzl is what I used to use back in the 80's when I climbed rock and frozen waterfalls.
You can expect to pay around 10 bucks + or - for one.
Colors and designs vary greatly but just pick one that looks right for you.
I have repurposed mine for a variety of things from camera to garden swings. I had about 50 of them but have used or given away most by now.
Also check out EMS (Eastern Mountain Sports) online. That was my go to place for all things climbing.

look for them at Home Depot or Menards. Good for carrying things but not for climbing.

What sort of accessories do you need to carry with the aid of a carabiner? on a belt? sounds most uncomfortable.
Anything except for Made in China

Carabiners, what kind of contraction are you planing to make to carry photo accessories?
If you check photo stores like, B & H, Adorama, Roberts Camera, etc., you can search for belt pouches. They have so many different configurations for carrying camera accessories that you will have a fun time deciding which one to pick.
If you are going to use those hooks for expensive camera equipment get the real stuff. Shop at REI for NiteIze S-biners. They come in various sizes and weight capacities and many of them lock.

For added security when using pouches with belt clips. Had a pouch with a belt clip slip off the belt unnoticed, so I figured a small 2 inch carabiner to secure the pouch to the pants belt loop would provide additional security. The spring mechanism on a 2 inch carabiner I tried broke almost immediately. I wouldn't want a bigger carabiner than that for the reason you mention. Maybe there are other methods of protecting against a pouch with a belt clip slipping off the belt.

Silly me! As you say, I can now see plenty of pouches available that look like they would be very secure by searching for pouches instead of carabiners! Search engines are great when you search for the proper term.
