hello everyone I need some help I want to do family Christmas portrait for the holidays because I just have to purchase a new car my funds are very very very low so I'm wondering where can I find things to create a beautiful background for xmas if you guys could tell me places where I can purchase even if you know the price of the items would be very very helpful
I think if you can find plain back ground as a wall in your house and put a chismat tree beside and also find a sheet of fabric or bed sheet, blanket..whatever work put on the floor it would be nice too because that what I do all the time as I do not have studio kit at all just look around and use what I have.
Or if you want photo background I think just print fabric in carft store will work too.
not sure if help as un professional idea

At the Dollar Store a 55" x 108" white plastic table cover gaffer taped or poster puttied to the wall is a ~$1.00 background/backdrop. Comes in red, too.
Use your existing Christmas decorations as props. $1.00 Santa hats or reindeer horns at the Dollar Store to dress everyone up. Be creative.
Post your photos when done
I just purchased a program called Smart Photo Editor. Believe I saw it advertised on a UHH page. Inexpenseve and you can use ANY background you want. Put any foreground--family photo on that background. Many other special effects available also. I recommend it. DJT
I use ebay (backgrount matera;) for templates. Bing and Google image for backdrop (right click). You also can make up temates in any Photoshop.
Cards printed in Vistaprint.com design it your self. Good deal on blanks at redriverpaper.com.
CALENDARS are great for Cristmas, its something they use.
No money this may help, you print it.
May and yours have a great Christmas and a better new year, anGODbless
Christmas Ball ornaments strung on fishing line or saw one with cotton balls on fishing line to look like snow with

How about have the family dress up and go down to the local mall during a slow time of the day and pose them in front of the mall's massive Christmas decorative display (which will certainly have fake snow, bows of holly, elves, and all that type thing, or a huge extremely decorative tree, instead of creating a backdrop? Use a background of shallow-depth-of-field blurred Christmas scene items of their display behind the family. You'd need permission from the mall's management so security doesn't throw you out for having a camera but they just may be cooperative if there are children and elderly involved.
Another idea is buying at a thrift store where things are typically 10 cents on the dollar and many unique items are displayed for Christmas season. Not Goodwill, because they think their prices should be almost as high as local department stores, but other lesser thrift stores like the Salvation Army and others.
You could use wrapping paper too. Cut some lengths and tape them together to create a backdrop that way too. It would be something different this way.
