Yes, on my Retina screen, the second is "over." (I have been there.)

The second with the replaced sky now has the sky competing too much with the rocks.

I think no.1. I find, in no.2, that the enhanced clouds require enhanced rock. It's like Polarisation on the sky only.

#2 is over-cooked for me. #1 looks much more natural. I also agree with Grahame that the rocks are competing with the sky in #2.
