The simplest way is to run SyncBack between drives. If there is difference in files - files will be copied. You can also run SyncBack in simulation mode without actual copying files. You will get summary with totals for "Files only on Source", "Files only on Destination", "Total files" as a web page. You can expand each line to see actual file names...
Zero effort....

Would you believe when I tell you that what is stored on the NAS drive is in different folders than my computer drive? On the NAS, it is organized for family members to access their particular wants and my computer is set up for the way I work.

If you use synchback make sure you know the difference between a Backup, Mirror and Synchronization backup. Depending on your workflow(s) , all three might make sense for different parts of your workflow

A good many years ago I worked with very large masses of data. Though I haven't tried it, it should be possible to export detailed lists of images to Excel. Once there, the functions available will let you parse the data any way you want to. Count, compare, merge, etc., etc.

ACDsee has been the method to sort--dice and rearrange files quickly and re-order by name--size--or file type--not to mention lightning fast viewing either small aside the list or instantly at full screen. Their best program for that is ACDsee Classic. They have other programs including editing, etc. But are slower. And the Classic can be opened in any number of windows at the same time as it is not a memory hog.--I alway have a few windows open with ACDsee Classic running.----ew

The current row limit for Excel is 2^20 (1,048,576) – quite a lot of photos (would be for me anyway).
