I worked in a pet store and people would complain they wasted their money when a pet chewed up a toy. My reply was that the pet had a good time and enjoyed the toy. If he didn't play with it or chew it, then that toy was the waste of money since it would never be used.

Keep a close eye on him/her. Our 10 year old yorkie swallowed a piece of a toy last year and we almost lost him. He had never eaten any part of a toy, he would just tear it up. That time it was a major surgery and many many $$$. Didn’t care so much about the money but the poor little guy was tender for about a month after.
