Nice photos. Nice taxi to take a ride in.

The Yankees of the 1950s were the last professional baseball team that I could name and identify every player and number. Even at 10 years old, my buddy and I would take the subway train to Yankee Stadium. Don't think parents would allow a 10 year old to take the subway alone now-a-days. Here's my favorites...can you name them all?

Yep, all of the first ten numbers are retired and one of them twice. Great shots, can't wait to show them to DW as she's an even bigger fan than I am!

Yes, number 8 was retired in honor of Bill Dickey and Yogi Berra.

If you look at the Championship years shown below the rear side window they don't match up with the numbers below the windshield.

I believe the windshield numbers are retired player's jersey numbers. Lifelong Yankee fan here.

You are correct
Thanks for clarifying that

That's fantastic (and I'm no Yankee fan). The detail and cleverness is great. I love the baseball mitt mirrors, and did you notice the steering wheel stitched like a baseball? Very cool!

When MM first came up to the Majors, his number was 6.

Grew up 10 blocks north of the stadium..... Always a Yankee fan!!! Used to sneak in an old battery operated tube portable radio to hear the series while in school! Had half an set of earphones under my shirt at the shoulder for private listening and reporting scores to friends. Wish I had a ride in that taxi!!! Thanks for sharing.
