On Sunday, September 15, 1963, twelve sticks of dynamite were placed in the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. The bomb had been planted by the white supremacy group, the KKK, and killed four young black girls between the ages of 11-14.

John Coltrane wrote the song ‘Alabama’ in response to this event and patterned his playing in the song after Martin Luther King’s speech at the funeral for the four girls.

We all now know that the kkk was the enforcement arm of the democrat party don't we. If you mention the kkk in any form, you should also mention its provenance. Just saying "white supremacy" leaves out the real purpose of the kkk and what the organization tried to do. So, when you say kkk, also mention the democrat party. Thanks

Do you have any relevant comments regarding John Coltrane or the powerful composition he wrote? The verbiage in my post was copied and pasted from the Jazz on the Tube video.
