Lightroom Slideshow Music

I have selected about 350 images for a slideshow using Lightroom. Additionally, I selected some instrumental music. The music would run for about 50 minutes while my slides are set to change at 4 seconds for a total length of about 23-24 minutes.

When I run the slideshow the music plays as expected for the first 25 images and then stops, but the slides keep cycling through to the end. In the Playback section of the Slideshow module, Automatic is highlighted, Slide Length is set to 4 seconds and Cross fade to 1.0 second. Just below that Fit to Music is highlighted.

I am looking for some suggestions on how to keep the music playing for the whole slide show. I have not tried Adobe yet, but will do that Monday.

Thanks,

Just a tip, 4 seconds is much too long unless it is an exceptional image. You audience will get bored. Reduce them down at least half, in time and a second is also a long dissolve, better to make them 1/2 seconds with a one second every now and then, for a long dissolve.

I'm not sure what the problem is with your show. But I also made a slide show with music (Jazz) and had a hard time getting everything to sync properly. This was a long time ago and I don't even have the software on my computer any longer to see how I did it. I actually converted it to a DVD video RAM format so it can be played back with a DVD player or computer DVD drive. Gave copies of my photo best of slide show to close friends. Good luck with yours. Hope you figure it out or get help soon.

I have many slide shows made using Proshow Gold, which is no longer available. The settings you have are similar to the ones I use so I don't know what the problem is. As far as timing is concerned, 4 seconds with a 1 second transition is perfect. Anything shorter and the audience won't get to fully experience the picture.

I agree about 4 seconds unless you are making a b roll

Yeh gads. 350 images in a slide show. Unless this is intended for unattended viewing I would drastically limit the number of images - maybe 60 of the best that completely cover the subject of the show. Just saying that this sounds like a former partner of mine who insisted that we all sit through a way t--o--o long slide show whenever he took a big trip. We got to see everything. And we finally all just got up and walked out on him. Although his nose got out of joint he got the message and never bothered us again.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I do have a questions. If one does a slide show in LR, does it require LR to play it?

Just a note on the length of your slideshow. I did a video a couple of years ago for my sister. A consultant was hired to help with the finer points. One thing she said that has stuck with me is, you have about four minutes for your presentation, after that, your audience gets bored and loses interest. I agree with the four-second duration is way to long.

I tried to use the LR slide show function and found it totally lacking in a lot of areas. I use Apple's Final Cut ProX, pricey but works for me. If you are using Windows, you might try Movie Maker, or if an Apple fan, try their app (name escapes me at the moment).
Lots of luck with your project,
Mike

Is your audio clip long enough to cover the full slide show? LR does not handle audio very well. If you have Premiere it is much better for slide show.
I limit total length for a presentation to 6-7 minutes with 4-5 sec per slide and 0.75-1 sec transitions.
I bought an Audiio. Com license and get very good music.

Good tip. I will give it a try.

LR has a feature to either create a PDF, with music or Export Video. I think you have a choice of video formats to use. I haven't started that step yet.

My show is a bit long but is intended primarily for personal use. In 2021 I attempted to take at least one photo per day. I ended up missing about 10 days over the course of the year. Then as I downloaded images, I keyworded one image per day and created a smart collection of these images.

A few friends will probably 'suffer through my 23 minutes.'
