You have done a nice job photographing a white bird. #3 would be my favorite if you brought dodged his beak back a bit so it doesn't fade into the back ground. It doesn't have to be much, and it might just be the way my monitor is displaying it.

Lightened it a bit but lost the black background

Instead of lightening the whole photo try just dodging the the beak in another layer at a low opacity.

Don't know how to do that. i have photo shop 7 but never tryed to us it I only use dpp
