On December 27, 2021 my family and I witness a nearly 3 hour ordeal in a blizzard where ordinary citizens mustered up four 4x4s and went to the aid of a UPS driver who had gotten stuck on a very muddy rural road. Just after he got stuck a neighbor with a tractor tried to pull him out but couldn't do it.

The storm worsened and the UPS truck was stuck deep to the axles. I took this photo at the height of the wait. The UPS driver stayed patiently with his truck.

About 30 minutes after this photo was taken the 4x4's showed up and they hooked up to one another (daisy chain) and backed down to the UPS truck. They were able to successfully pull him up the steep muddy incline and he went on his way delivering his packages.

It was a good day for neighbors and a cheap tow for UPS! Neighbor helping neighbor is what this world is about.

Happy New Year 4x4 drivers and UPS for being so considerate and determined in adverse situations.

Cheers Hoggers!

Your have to give a lot of Kudo's to all the delivery services during the holidays and bad weather conditions. Plus those that helped out the UPS driver.

Thanks for checking in! The weather is clear up there. Snow gone. Mud dry. 1 week and it's a whole new game. Kind of like UHH. :)

So nice to learn about people helping each other

In most cases it doesn't cost anything to just be nice to one another! :) You are right about seeing it first hand. Makes me have a glimmer of hope.

Happy New Year. Jim

Out in the Country, a good UPS driver almost becomes a friend. Entirely unsurprising but laudable behavior. I'd do the same for our driver, Mark, anytime.

I remember the ruralness of Montana when we drove up through those parts on occasion. It sure pays to treat a neighbor good. Never know when you might need it on one of those Montana weather days. Cheers Quixdraw! Happy New Years sir!

Not the place I'd like to be walking

Amen to that. When the tractor couldn't pull him out of the mud rut I knew there was going to be a protracted effort. I found it odd that 3 hours into the effort a UPS Supervisor had not shown up to check in on his driver. We are wondering if the driver was remaining "low key" so as not to incur the boss' rath for getting stuck offroad (unimproved County road) in the mud. If the 4x4's hadn't been able to get him out, we all agreed the next pull would be by a Caterpillar! V I C T O R Y!!!

Happy New Year Joe! Thanks for checking in.

Great story - Agree - ditto, we've known our driver for many years (near the end of our second decade with Chris Xxx) !!

We don't know the driver's name and I live over 100 miles from that location but I did forward the story and information to UPS Webmaster. Hopefully they give the guy kudos for stick-to-it-iveness!

Happy New Year!
