Any issues with the humidity and a DSLR camera in Hawaii - thanks for any info

Moved back home in 1985.
Humidity hasn't affected any of my DSLR's.

No need to be embarrassed. You gave up a part of your life to serve our country. Your reason for joining and your experiences while in doesn't change the fact that you did your part in a joint effort where not everyone was face down in the mud. Whatever popular opinion of the war was and is today, or even if it had been peacetime, you did your share. Even the draftees deserve thanks. They went grudgingly for the most part, but, at least they didn't run off to Canada or get some doctor to sign off on bogus bone spurs.
I enlisted in the Army in '67. Of my 3 yrs in I spent 18 mo on the ground in 'Nam, but, that doesn't earn me anymore thanks then you or anyone else who served. We were all part of the same team.
So, Thanks For Your Service!

Just returned (Dec 24th) from 10 days in Maui that included a ferry ride to Lana. a zipline ride on Maui and a helicopter tour of Molokai in the rain (not recommended!). Had no problems with Oly OMD1 mk2 or the 40/150mm lense.

We've been to Hawaii well over 20 times over the years (and go back later this month for a 5 week stay). I've never had a problem with any camera (film or digital) over the years. Go forth and enjoy!

It's just about a climate that's the easiest on a camera. Suggest you take the full Pearl Harbor tour, not just the Arizona crossing. We did and it brought us to near tears when we rehearsed what had happened that fateful day. We live near FDR's Hyde Park home. Many years ago I went with my son and mother-in-law to the house and museum. They had FDR's December 8 speech on display. He had originally dictated, "a day that will live in history." In his own hand he crossed out "history" and above it wrote "infamy." Still gives me goosebumps when I think of it.

I haven't had and problems with the humidity on my DSLR cameras during my 2 trips to Oahu. My daughter hasn"t experienced any problems either. She lives on Maui.

I spent three years on Oahu with trips to Hawaii, Maui and Kauai without any ill effects on my Exacta and a couple lenses. However, the Chevy Impala I bought there didn't fair well with the constant stop and go traffic. When I got it back to the States and on the freeways I had to have the engine and tranny rebuilt at about 50K miles.

Thank you

Short visits to Hawaii shouldn't be a problem, but I happen to know there are concerns when living full-time in humid areas with mold and fungus on optics. There is a elevation on the Big Island where Black mold and fungus is a very real problem. We lived in a Ohana that had no A/C and the best way to keep the humidity down was to keep fans running. The Trade Winds are always welcome on the islands as that's when the humidity goes down. There are some locations on the Big Island that are very dry. But Hilo doesn't hold the record of the wettest city in the USA for nothing.

Will be near downtown a little, my son's a college pitching coach. His team is there for only 4 days. Hopefully the weather is good.

Interesting that every time I visited Hilo the weather was beautiful and sunny. They get over 200 days of rain. That's why we lived in Kona on the dry side.
