Look at Wentworth Puzzles in England for high quality wooden puzzles from simple to difficult (15 to 750 or 1000 pieces). Not inexpensive, but high quality with many uniquely shaped pieces (some quite tricky). These are heirloom gifts that are likely to be passed down - so I use images that I hope my great grandchildren will put together one day long after I'm gone and maybe even dream a little dream of me. I never thought of signing them, but you've given me an idea. Thanks!

Has anyone had puzzles done from photos? If so, what size do you recommend for a 500 piece puzzle and can it be either a landscape or portrait format. I went on line and saw a bunch of stuff from Amazon, but not sure if that is the best place to look.
Thanks and a Happy New Year to all.
Bud

I have used Portrait Puzzles and have been very satified with their product. Very quick service and competively priced. Produced in the US (Wisconsin) not overseas like many others.

I just bought one from Shutterfly and it turned out really good. The number of pieces is determined by the size of the puzzle. I got the 20”x30” (1014 pieces), the next size down is 16”x20” (520 pieces). You can get a variety of formats from collage to single pictures. Currently they are having a sale at 1/2 off. Here’s a picture of the puzzle I got.

I purchased three from Shutterfly for Xmas. The 550 piece was a bit pricy and the overall size of the pieces and total size is small...so I'd look elsewhere.

I have used Shutterfly puzzle for many of my photos. They do have a variety of sizes to choose from. I did find that the quality of the printing is not the greatest. When you start putting the puzzle together - seems like some of the ink wears off. I complained to the company and they sent me a new puzzle.

Both Fine Art America and Pictorem where I have photos displayed offer puzzles, I have not ordered any so I can't comment on quality, FAA does do excellent printing as I have seen other of their products.

We have a website on FAA and last year ordered three puzzles from our pictures. We were very disappointed in the quality. Pieces were bent, not completely cut, and rather flimsy. Not up to the quality of their printing.

To all who commented and made suggestions, thank you! I will be looking at the various options and before I order, I will post a couple of pictures, when I get on my computer, to get opinions about which one(s) might make the best puzzle.
