Thank you to all of the UHH community who responded / reported. Below are the summary statistics. I needed to 'normalize' the data to get the summary counts, so maybe a few lenses were 'upgraded' to the current model if you only reported a focal length. The table shows those lenses with 2 or more responses.
As I've long suspected, the Nikon community members are disproportional to the Nikon worldwide market share. Or maybe, these numbers better match to their relative strength in the N. America market?
The most popular prime was the Nikon 500mm f/5.6E AF-S PF ED VR
The most popular zoom was the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8G AF-S ED
The most popular super zoom was the Tamron 18-400mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC HLD
The Nikon 200-500 and the Canon 100-400 tied as the most popular super telephoto zooms

I think it is a very interesting and comprehensive survey. Am i correct in thinking that it is a popularity contest more that a indication of quality? Thank you for doing the work!. I am reminded of a bumper sticker a friend who made his living raising lamb had: the sticker read: Eat American Lamb, 10,000 coyotes can not be wrong!
Poul
Thank you so much Paul for bringing your numerical analysis to the table.
UHH is fortunate to have folks like you amongst us!
All the best moving forward in 2022 Paul!
Cheers! Thomas

I wouldn’t call it a popularity contest. It was a survey of which lenses (don’t forget some/most hoggers own many) members have been using. I think it depends more on what they’ve been photographing rather than which are more popular.
Happy New Years to all! And thank you all for the kind comments. I think "survey" overstates the exercise, as the data is self-reported and many times not based on analysis of actual Lightroom / image catalog statistics.
Here's one grouping I forgot to include:
Zoom - 70
Super Telephoto Zoom - 26
Super Zoom - 25
Super Telephoto Prime - 15
Macro - 7
This "top 5" statistic shows the variety of photography covered by the 155 respondents. Personally, what I'd like to see is more member participation in posting images, where more variety of images would correspond to the wide variety of most-used (favorite) equipment.
Wow. Zoom lenses are really popular.

The demographics of this site says it all as far as camera usage.
Very old and still stuck on the F mount.
I join the others congratulating you for this survey Paul. I also joined others thanking you for your time and effort to make it possible.
I can see that I was all alone with my Nikon 18-70 f3.5-4.5 lens, an excellent and now reasonably priced optic. I tend to use old optics often and a good example is my 70-210 f4-5.6 AF Nikkor lens.
I can see and it is no surprise the popularity of zoom lenses which we all know are very convenient. An excellent survey.
Thanks for that. Nice. Maybe we can get responses from those who haven't replied.

Yeah, I clicked on Reply, rather than Quote. I was replying to CHG_CANON. We should be able to double the number of replies.
