Great shots and thanks for the cautionary tale about extremities outside of the boat.
Beautiful photographs. You had quite the trip as your photographs show.
My biggest fear was none of the animals but snakes. Thankfully I never did see one.

Fantastic photos and a great narrative to go with them. I really feel you should have gotten closer to the one with the dragonfly on it to really capture the dragonflies eyes too.
Wonderful, as usual! We have the same crocodile problem in the canals here in South Florida. I remember the story of a beautiful young jogger who stopped to cool her legs in a canal, and was suddenly taken. They jump out of the water, also, and move quickly on land. Be careful! And keep taking your marvelous pictures!
Another exceptional series!! Wow!!

Love the perspective of that first one! Wow set, again!
You made me curious about the African critter dangers, so I looked up 'Most Dangerous African animals'. Surprisingly, #1 is the mosquito, then the Tetsi fly! Large animals it is a contest what is next: snake(s). Large animals: Hippos, then Elephants, Lions, Crocs...
In the USA... #1 is HUMANS (We are very dangerous critters).
Yup, I would of thought it was the hippo which I heard is the one of the most aggressive.
Pictures be damned. I'm just glad you made it home with both feet. On a more serious note, I did enjoy your shots. I'm not sure that (1) they would have had a canoe that wouldn't sink with me aboard and (2) that I would have had the nerve to get up off the floor of the canoe to take pictures. Well done.
Cool series of a very dangerous critter. The first shot is very interesting.
Great series, Beth, I would be scared too. But the hippos in the background of your last picture are more dangerous to humans than the crocs are.
Great photos of the scenes you saw here, Beth.
There is something I distinctly remember that was told to me about Africa. The moment you step on land, you drop to the bottom of the food chain.

So these are the things of nightmares in Africa! In Zimbabwe many people every year are killed by crocodiles. The guides told us several stories...
These were pretty far away and have been worked hard, not the highest quality. But I love the 2 flies on the first, the dragon fly on the second and the eyes on the 3rd!
The last photo is of a local in their boat that they use to fish. They said the crocodiles have started to learn that they can bump the canoe and get a tasty treat!
No way you get me in one of these.
So one of the sad stories was of a 17 year old girl just 3 years or so ago that was in a canoe, she pointed to something on shore and a crocodile came out of the water grabbed her arm and in just seconds she was gone and not seen again. So we are out on our boat, it was larger than a canoe but still not large. I was up front to get low and be out of the way. On the way to another site I stuck my leg out straight as I was sitting on the floor of the boat, my foot was just over the edge and the guide yelled, Beth, foot! Yikes, I had not thought of it and I could have been the (not 17 far from it) girl next story they told!
