[quote=CHG_CANON]If you filter and count your images with 2021 shooting dates in Lightroom, what surprises do you find? Do you use your own usage statistics to plan to sell unused lenses / cameras? Or maybe, to change the lenses you'll use more in 2022?

Canon 50mm 1.8 or 35mm 2.0 are most used. My first digital, a Canon 40D lives in a drawer in my office. FF only now!
I've never sold anything, doubt if I ever will. Too much trouble for too litle $$. I'm 90, I don't wrap stuff up and take it to the post office.

I've given things away though. Locally. Mostly lens but here and there a body. (For example, when I went digital, I gave away my 35mm cameras, including my first, a Voightlander that I got through the PX in Korea. Took a lot of pics of bombed out places, Korean kids and whores with it. Bombed places and kids mostly in villages, whores mostly in Seoul.) Harry

My most used lens by far is my Sigma 18-300 zoom.

On my 2 Canon crop sensor camera, 77d, and T7i, I use my 18-135 combo the most. Bought a Tamron 10-24 that is a real treat for a walk around lens on the other body that doesn't have the 18-135. Starting to use more of my 150-600 Tamron for widlife

I didn't include my phone because I use my phone camera a lot for work, and I did not want to count that as part of my personal photography.

If I had included the phone camera, it would have been 3rd from the top of the most used lenses.

Since I included my 85 then I also had to include my phone. Reason is that I don’t normally use the 85 much at all but this thread asks about a specific year and so that would include an unusual multi-multi session project that involves thousands of frames and heavy use of the 85.

Another abnormality of 2021 was several months where my cameras not accessible to so I messed with the phone waaaaaay more than is normal for me.

So the 85 and phone normally don’t get much play, but 2021 was very distinctly abnormal so I have no doubt about how to answer the poll for this specific year.

Ahhh ! You rely on the 24-70 and 70-200 after dark cuz the 28-300 is too slow.

Personally, when I sort / filter my 2021 statistics in Lightroom, I see have still have a lot of culling to do from the November travel and multiple architecture boat tours in Chicago in August. Picking the exact total winner isn't possible yet. What I do note, though, is a better and more equal distribution of lens usage through 2021.

Usage, that's really the idea of this annual review of images and lenses used. I don't own any lenses, (nor cameras) that are not actively being used. Most, of course, are not every day / every month. But all are now being used to create 'keeper' images every year. It is this annual review of usage that helped me a few years ago to get rid of underused equipment and to push a few lenses off the shelf and back onto camera bodies for more active use.

Preliminary results say the 600mm extended configuration of the EF 300 f/2.8L IS II and the EF 2x III teleconverter have moved back to the top place in usage as I've had more time / opportunities with wildlife in 2021 as compared to 2020. Again, the incomplete culling skews actual results, but of my four bodies and 5921 images in 2021 currently remaining, I see the EOS 5DIII still being used most and the more frequently lenses with image counts in the 300 to 500 range.
