What is "Long-Haul COVID?

There are those claiming that natural COVID immunity is better than that from the vaccine". The science, as in a lot of issues surrounding the pandemic, is far from clear. In some studies there are more memory B cells after a natural infection than generated by immunization. One study by the CDC showed more breakthrough infections in those with "natural immunity" than in those previously vaccinated. But of course, the next question is about what happens over time. And what happens when these folks are exposed to different variants.

But the hazard of suggesting that people put themselves at risk of acquiring the infection so as to protect themselves is curious at best - and ridiculous. Some people end up on ventilators and many die from this disease - over 800,000 Americans so far!

But what about those who survive the infection? So maybe they have immunity, but what else do they have? What is the "long haul" syndrome, exactly? Some patients suffer chronic fatigue, brain fog, heart problems, and other health concerns for many months after a COVID infection - and worry that this will never resolve. These are disabling conditions. Scientists are trying to discover what might be causing these symptoms.

A new study utilizing autopsy findings shows that COVID virus may live in body tissues, including the brain, for many months after infection - as long as 230 days. This is ground-breaking news, and pretty horrifying. I think it is all the more reason to get vaccinated.
