Parents are responsible for keeping firearms out of reach of their children. I’ve always had quite a few handguns and rifles, and not one has killed or hurt anyone. They were never accessible to my children though. The only time they touched one was when we went shooting. They all ended up as good shooters and respect for what firearms can do if misplaced or misused.

I agree that people who are careless with anything dangerous when there are children in the house need to be penalized. Could be guns, a swimming pool, power tools left connected to a power source and accessible to children. I don't think that hearing about others being prosecuted will make any difference to others because no one ever anticipates that their family might be the next one grieving. That stuff happens to other people.

As an aside my BFF, while you on the Left are whining about Republicans not caring about a 2 year old child, let's not forget the Democrats don't give a damn about over 2000 people killed in Democratic run cities across America, many of them infant children. What have any of you done about it? Simple question, eh? What have the Democrats done to stop this senseless black on black killing in cities run by them.

Of course Mayor Lightfoot has the real problem at her fingertips. It is all of the guns brought into Chicago by outsiders. Other cities seem able to handle similar problems, let the police do their job and arrest those use firearms in the commission of a crime. But of course that is not the Democratic Way is it? No, your way is to either not arrest the thugs OR allow the thugs to go free without bail and then never look for them. Not a day will be served in prison.

Nobody said that makes the parent a bad person. But it does make the parent lacking in some parenting skills, doesn't it? Exactly what is it you want done to those parents? You want to blame someone then blame the parents for not locking up the gun.

What is the kid doing in my house to begin with? In my house my firearms are locked up in one of 4 locked safes.
If the kid gets into his parents vehicle and takes off the emergency brake causing the vehicle to roll downhill and hit another vehicle, killing the kid, who do you blame then, the vehicle? You would blame the gun in this instance and not anything else in another similar instance involving a knife, vehicle, poison etc. Looks like you have an uncontrollable mental problem with firearms. Are you unable to understand a firearm is only a tool, it is nothing until put to use by a human being? Yet you on the Left blame firearms instead of the humans who use them.

Get your facts right. The child was killed in Independence, Missouri, not Chicago. Your dislike for Mayor Lightfoot is that she is Africa-America and a woman. Now let say we lock everyone that is arrest. We well have to build lot more prisons and hide more people to run the prison. One question, who going to pay for all this? Taxes. That right your and my taxes will go up to pay for to lock people up. Now if you are willing to pay higher taxes, we will build more prison, if not go piss in the wind.

My dislike for Mayor Lightfoot is that she is a complete IDIOT with not a single brain cell to her credit. She is part of the Democratic Party that is working overtime to destroy America with her dumbass lying corrupt Liberal Socialist attitude. I have no problem with her blackness whatsoever. I admire and would be happy to vote for a number of black females. But I do insist they have Conservative values and have a brain. Lightfoot is one of the number of black females in Democrat run cities that are not doing their jobs as they should be for everyone in their city or state.

Do you deny that in Chicago black on black crime is rampant with hundreds of murders every year and growing? It is true. She is the Mayor. She is in charge of the police department. The police chief and almost every other member of the city government is black. Now their blackness is not the reason they are not doing a good job but their Liberal attitudes IS the problem. You tell me, What has Mayor Lightfoot done to stop the killings in Chicago? What has any Democratic Mayor of a Liberal run city done to stop the killings in their cities. Build more prisons, you say, piss in the wind, you say. OK, let's discuss prisons. America has plenty of prisons. There is no need to build more. I never said anything about locking up everyone who is arrested. You are lying if you say I said that. But for violent crimes we sure can and should lock up people for a longer sentence. Can't you agree that violent offenders should be locked up for longer sentences to keep them from attacking other citizens?
Speaking of blacks in prison, they make up about 14% of the U.S. population. Yet they make up 40% of the prison population in America. Seems as if some of them need more time outs, doesn't it? Or do we just let them free because they are black? You blame me and say I am racist. I say you suffer white guilt and refuse to hold blacks responsible for what they do wrong.
