First of all, thank you. One of the things that has always bothered me about Christians is that they think they have the monopoly on morality and values. That is not the case.

Quite a general statement to make regarding Christians. I do not personally know any who believe they have a monopoly on morality and values. All religions teach morality, along with certain other non-religious institutions. 8-)

Evoke? I think perhaps the word should have been provoke. I don't have a problem with your image, but I believe your editorializing belongs somewhere other than the photo gallery.

Absolutely! This section is for enjoyment of the Photographic Arts. Social, political, and religious commentary belong in general chit chat. No reason to start poking with sticks in here.

Actually, Christians know (if they don't, they should) that they DON'T have any monopoly on morality and values...they (above all) should know that if it wasn't for the Grace of God...they'd be lost.
hopefully that clears up any confusion...Christians are NOT better people than others...
And I agree with the suggestion to not editorialize....it's just a photo...

As a Christian I'm not surprised by your remark nor am I offended. We receive what we don't deserve and don't get what we do deserve. So often in my daily life I certainly "miss the mark" or put in another way I sin.
I am incapable of being perfect. Those that have offended you probably in righteous indignation expressed condemnation. That does not come from God nor the Bible, but from flawed people. That is why one scripture says to take the log out of your eye before removing the splinter from another's eye.
I like your photo's composition. I think that a more dramatic black and white treatment of the subject would have lent a degree of power and strength that lies behind those closed doors.
I love taking pictures of doors and have done so throughout the Pacific Rim, Mexico and the UK along with here in the us. I have a study of a door that is out of place. It looks as if it could have come from Morocco, but is intalled on the old AT&T phone building in Laguna Beach, Ca. A police officer told me that in 13 years on the force she has never seen it open. My does that lend a spark of curiosity. Who owns the door? What is behind it? Where did it come from? So many questions and no answers.
I truly like the composition of the church doors and it brings to mind that happy occasions such as marriages have graced the threshold, as well as more somber events such as a funeral and memorial service. Your doors could speak a lot and I would try and bring that out in the treatment of the black and white. Not quite so flat and a little more dramatic.
