Does anyone know of a source for either color 220 film, or a 120 back for the Rollei 6008i or later Rolleiflex 6x6 camera? (B&W film is still available in 220).

Keep looking for the 120 backs you had for your camera or another to purchase to use upon it.

220 film is gone and not coming back. 120 film remains available, although the selection is a lot less that it once was.

I had the same problem with some Koni-Omega cameras, which had both 220 and 120 backs. I had a bunch of 220 backs, but only one or two 120.

I just kept a lookout on some famous auction websites and eventually was able to buy a batch of four 120 backs. I found quite a few 120 backs, actually. But most of them were ridiculously expensive, while 220 backs are dirt cheap. Obviously some sellers have discovered the demand for 120 backs and the lack of demand for 220. It took a while to find a deal that was reasonable and acceptable for 120 backs, but it eventually happened.

I still have them, so thought about seeing if the 220 backs could be modified, but haven't done so and have no idea if that might be a possibility.

Thanks once more,
120 film of several brands and types is readily available. I will continue to seek the appropriate back.
I wonder if there might be a technician around that can economically convert the 220 backs - those are a dime a dozen.

You absolutely can use 120 film in a 220 back BUT you MUST remember ...you only have half of what the capacity of the back reads ie (Rolli would be 12 not 24) and (Mamaya would be 15 not 30 exposures) so fire off the rest and roll out. I've had to do that in a pinch at weddings many times in 15yrs.

Have you actually tried a roll of 120 in the 220 back - certainly worth a try. Unless the pressure plate causes too much drag to wind properly, should work.

Yes - it jammed, as stated above.
Since two responses said it should work, I'll try again with a fresh roll rather than an old one.

Thank you.
Unfortunately, this is not specific for the 6008i, and can also be found here in the US. The lack of specificity does matter - the automated features of the 6008i are bypassed in these older 120 film backs. The workaround is use the camera manually, which works fine as long as I remember to carry a light meter.

When I shot film I used a digital camera to figure out the correct exposure and shutter speed. I matched the iso to the asa of the film. Didn't need a light meter.

Really. I thought they were a lab only, not film sales, and looking at their site, I don’t see that they even develop Kodak Porta in 220. Do you have a link to that page on their site?

If you go ththeir website, thedarkroom.com, at the top click on "Film Developing" and it shows they develop both 120 & 220, C-41, E-6 (transparency) and B&W.

However,on further surfing the "net" it seems that the 220 is no longer made. However, some [eople are selling outdated film which has been frozen. Best look for a used 120 film back.

Maybe we’re looking at different things. At the top level they do show a 120/220 roll, but if you drill down to the specific supported films they develop on the C-41, E6 and B&W pages, I don’t see 220 anywhere. But regardless, they’re the same width, and if you develop your own (if you could buy the film), they’ll fit on the same reel. But if you’re a large company running film on a processor, then the extra length may be an issue. Either way, 220 is obsolete unless you want to shoot Shanghai B&W (whoever that is) so a real 120 back or possibly a modified 220 back is the long term answer.

I'm convinced that 120 is the only way to go. At this point, I'll experiment little more with 120 film in the 220 back, and buy a 6000 series 120 back, which I'' have to use in manual mode only - not a major handicap at all, as I own the light meter (s) and various other accessories.
Thanks to all for the interest and the help.
