When a home TV is too complicated to operate, something is wrong with then electronics industry. I signed up for HBO Max, but how can I watch it? I can display different channels along the bottom of the screen on my smart TV, but I can't add any. Going through Tivo, I can add them after I enter an IP Address. I did that. "...an unexpected error occurred..." It told me to go to a website for more info. "404: We're sorry, but the page you were looking for definitely does not exist."

I connected an Amazon thingy, but the TV doesn't see it. I'll try Roku and see if it recognizes that. Maybe I can watch HBO Max on the computer.

With Amazon Firestick TV you have to go to the App Library and download it. Then you’ll see the icon on your Home Screen.

If you choose the Roku, you may need to add that channel. From the main screen, to the far left of the screen in the menu, choose “streaming channels”, then “movies and TV” and choose then add HBO Max. Simple.

And Merry Christmas Jerry

The Firestick wasn't recognized - blank screen. I got a Roku, but it was too long to be plugged into the space allowed on the back of the TV. I plugged in another Roku, and I was able to get a Roku screen full of channels, and I paired a remote with it. Whooppee! Unfortunately, it also showed a "Not Connected" message.

After a bit playing around with it for a while, I got it to work, and it showed HBOMax. Great. I clicked on that, and I got, "Something bad happened, and we weren't able to load the screen. It's probably our fault, and we're deeply sorry!"

After much messing around with it, the Roku works, and so does HBOMax, most of the time. : )

Merry Christmas!

That's why I have both the Firestick and Roku. Eventually, one or the other gives me trouble.

I have found the Roku devices to be flakey (I have 4 plus a spare). Periodically, they exhibit a range of failures from a distorted image to not being able to connect to WiFi to garbled audio. Letting them cool and resetting them usually solves the issue, and since the USB “thumb drive” sized devices are the worst offenders, it may be heat related as they’re packaged much more densely than the cigarette sized units that attach via USB cable.

Funny! Me, too! I had a device that let me plug both the Amazon Fire and the Roku into it and switch back and forth with a remote, but that interfered with the TV. This Samsung doesn't have enough HDMI ports to plug everything in.

I often wondered why the TV kept saying it lost the wireless signal, when I have a wired connection. Then I realized that both the Fire and the Roku connect wirelessly.

Considering what’s on TV, why bother?
Get a good book.

Hi, I also have Tivo and the apps that is built into Tivo doesn't include HBO max. I get it by using my tv remote instead of Tivo remote. Tap the Home button or what ever would open the apps choice on the bottom of the screen and use right or left arrow to go to the HBO Max app.
Good luck.

My old Apple TV HW is much more reliable, but they’re expensive now just for a streaming renderer, and the Apple paid service is ridiculous- almost nothing included free with the monthly cost - everything you want to watch has a pay per view cost.

I tried Apple, and I found that they wanted me to pay again to watch most movies. I guess they need the money, right???
