Like most responders, the first thing I do when we get a delivery at our home is check the label. For the record, and I can only speak for myself, in the 10 yrs we’ve lived at our present address, we’ve not had a single UPS or FedEx delivery issue. Amazon is been also very good. The only problem we’ve ever had is with a delivery company called “Fast Trak.” They make worst of the big guys look like angels!

My wife gets medication in the mail. She puts in a refill order to the pharmacy at Kaiser and usually get it within 48 hours USPS. We could go in have it refilled since we live a mile from the hospital and pharmacy but she opted to have it mailed. On the other hand I watched a package from seaside ca travel over a thousand miles within the state and take 21 days to deliver from the time they received the package. The distance from Seaside CA to Modesto CA is 123 miles. I looked at the label to see if it was damaged but it was in good shape and readable. It was a good thing that it was not something I needed immediately. I had a package come Fedex ground and it took 10 days coming from MS and I was expecting it to take longer.

UPS Pkg from VA Medical supplies supposed to be delivered on Tuesday. Driver posted ‘delivered at 1:17 pm’. Checked door at 1:20 pm. Not there! Medical supplies require signature. No bell, no knock. I checked my front door camera recording and a ‘Budget’ Van pulled up across the street at 1:16:58, so time is right.

Trudged across the street at 10 this Wednesday morning and neighbor said HIS Insulin was delivered yesterday and he put it in HIS refrigerator. Luckily, he didn’t take any yet. Checked the delivery box, and the insulin packages, yep, my wife’s Insulin, her name on the insulin. Good thing he didn’t inject yet. Possible medical emergency and lawyer time.h

Called UPS #’s to report it. Forget it, no people to talk to. Called UPS Mahway, NJ Corp HQ, computer responses, no actual operators to answer phones. All computerized operators to avoid human interaction on all lines!

Notified VA Pharmacy and mentioned possible legal issues averted. Requested VA change UPS to an actual delivery service. I offered to provide time and date-stamped video to VA. VA responded with an actionable notice to UPS.
This UPS crap is really getting bad. I mean, we’re talking medical deliveries!

I ordered a small battery storage case for my Fuji batteries from B & H. They shipped it by DHL. It took 2 1/2 weeks to get here in New Mexico. Twice the DHL tracking number said the package was out for delivery in Grand Prairie, Texas, which is 680 miles away. They have shipped items by that carrier three times to me now, and all three times the items have taken a vacation in Grand Prairie before actually coming to New Mexico.

One thing seems fairly frequent on these complaints about deliveries. That is the seeming inability of drivers to be able to read numbers. Maybe delivery companies should give prospective drivers a reading test before employing them.

toss her package over the fence...

Yep, I live in a gated community, and we have that problem a lot: packages are either tossed over the gate, or left outside the front gate. Fortunately, our neighbors all look out for each other, and handle the deliver for the final 30-40 yards.

The regular drivers and delivery services all have the gate code (and/or is listed on our accounts), but especially this time of year, it's not always the regular drivers.

I ordered a new D850 from Nikon. Two day FedX was three days and even thought I was home they just dropped the box off at the front door. It indicated "signature required" right on the box with my 3K camera in it.

On the other side of things. My wife is drinking a protein shake 2-3 times a day as her only source of protein following surgery (liquid diet for 3 months). Subscribed on Amazon 2 cases every 2 weeks. Got an email this morning that the 1st delivery would be 3 January. Got home from the Christmas Eve service at church & there's an Amazon package in the carport. Sure enough, her protein shakes arrived.

It's better to be surprised with an early delivery then disappointed with a late delivery

Here's why I don't like UPS. Paid for overnight air shipping. Followed progress of package on UPS website. UPS picked up package, put on plane. Plane arrived locally this morning at 5:00 am. Processed and arrived at local distribution center at 8:00 am. Put on truck, out for deliver 9:30 am. Great, nice to have such accurate information. Hear truck pull up at 1:30 pm. Walk outside, ready to tell driver to just set it on curb. Wait, wait, wait... lot of banging and crashing coming from inside the truck. Driver gets in driver's seat, starts engine, ready to leave, sees me standing there. Lean's out, says "Couldn't find it." I ask when it'll be delivered. He says, "If I find it, it has to come back. Otherwise...", shrugs his shoulders and leaves. Customer service at its best.
