Taking advantage of a break in the rain/snow storms, we went to Belfair State Park and walked our little dog. 39 F day, mostly clear, lite Southeast breeze-cold. Tide coming in not much bird or human activity in the Park.
This GBH flew around a few times then landed near the stream of the Big Mission Creek outflow. As the tide came in, this GBH stayed put! Over 45 minutes I observed the bird getting deeper and deeper!
The gulls were fighting over the carcass of a large salmon as depicted. This "fight" went on as long as we were there.
Just as the fight was warming up a young Eagle flew over, flushing all of the many gulls and ducks in the vicinity.
D850, 500pF, 1/3200, f 8, ISOs from 500 to 3600, EC- +1.3, no CPL, no background manipulation or recoloring, held by arthritic hands! Yes some cropping and pp occurred.
Download and enjoy!
